PSE index, peso gain

The main share index rose and the peso gained against the US dollar on Thursday.
The peso finished at P52.19 from Wednesday's P52.35. Volume at the foreign exchange portal of the Bankers Association of the Philippines amounted to $892.15 million from the previous day's $873.2 million.
The Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) index closed at 7,836.55 points, up 38.80. In the broader market, there were 97 gainers, 80 decliners while 53 shares were unchanged.
Volume reached 694.77 million shares worth P6.57 billion from Wednesday's 650.06 million shares valued at P6.11 billion.
Most active shares were led by Ayala Land, 30 centavos down to P48.20; SM Prime, 20 centavos lower to P39 and Ayala Corp., up P1.11 to P909. DMS
