PSE index rallies to close higher

The Philippines' main share index rallied to close higher after falling steeply on Friday.
The peso finished at P50.815 against the US dollar from P50.635 on Thursday. Volume at the foreign exchange portal of the Bankers Association of the Philippines reached $835.75 million from $998.7 million.
The Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) index settled at 7,773.12 points, up 119.18. It fell as low as 180.92 points down before lunch break.
In the broader market, there were 92 losers, 78 gainers and 55 unchanged.
Volume reached 1.09 billion worth P13.15 billion from Thursday's 591.79 million valued at P12.6 billion.
Most active shares were led by SM Prime, up 80 centavos to P41.45; Ayala Land, up 60 centavos to P46; SM Investment Corp., up P30 to P1.065 and Manila Water Co., down 31 centavos to P7,44. DMS
