PSE index sheds off 1.8 percent, peso flat vs US dollar

The main stock index ended lower but the peso finished flat against the US dollar on Tuesday.
The peso finished at P52.26 from Friday's P52.27. Volume at the foreign exchange portal of the Bankers Association of the Philippines reached $1.22 billion from the previous session's $1.208 billion.
The Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) index closed at 7,747.38 points, down 142.03 points.
In the broader market, there were 124 losers, 88 gainers and 39 losers.
Volume reached 2.59 billion shares worth P3.47 billion from Friday's 1.08 billion shares valued at P8.16 billion.
Most active shares were led by Ayala Land, down P1.65 to P47.35; SM Investment Corp., down P16 to P988 and SM Prime, down 15 centavos to P34.65. DMS
