PSE index up, peso declines vs US dollar

The key Philippine stock index rose but the peso declined against the US dollar on Thursday.
The peso closed at P51.20 from Wednesday's P50.89. Volume at the foreign exchange portal of the Bankers Association of the Philippines reached $984.36 million from $885.37 million on the previous day.
The Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) index closed at 8,098.16, up 52.36 points. In the broader market, there were 1.86 billion shares worth P6.66 billion from Wednesday's 2.07 billion shares valued at P7.45 billion.
Most active shares were led by Travellers International Hotel Group, unchanged at P5.48; Ayala Land, up 25 centavos to P50.05; Ayala Corp., down P7.50 to P950 and BDO, up P3.00 to P150. DMS
