PSE index up, peso loses ground vs US dollar

The key stock index rose but the peso ended lower against the US dollar on Tuesday.
The Philippine peso finished at P52,30 against the greenback from P52.22 the previous day. Volume reached $913.8 million from Monday's $633,81 million,
The Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) index closed 36.28 points higher to 7,761.29. In the broader market, there were 100 gainers and 80 decliners while 53 shares were unchanged.
Volume reached 1.52 billion shares worth P18.02 billion from Monday's 706.12 million shares valued at P5.53 billion.
Most active shares were led by ICTSI, up P1.40 to P 137.30; Ayala Corp., down P9.50 to P892.50; Ayala Land, up 55 centavos to P48.65 and BDO unchanged at P132. DMS
