PSE index up, peso lower vs US dollar

The main Philippines share index closed slightly higher but the peso was lower against the US dollar on Thursday.
The peso ended at P51.24 from P50.97. Volume at the foreign exchange portal of the Bankers Association of the Philippines reached $1.225 billion from $1.162 billion.
The Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) index settled at 7,950.98, up 17.72 points. In the broader market, there are 104 losers, 80 gainers and 51 unchanged.
Volume reached 660.11 million shares worth P5.19 billion from Wednesday's 1.17 billion valued at P4.67 billion.
Most active shares were led by SM Investment Corp., up P16 to P1,030; Universal Robina Corp., down P6.20 to P151 and Ayala Land, down five centavos to P48.95. DMS
