”Quinta” strengthens into severe tropical storm, heads for Bicol

''Quinta'' strengthened into a severe tropical storm Sunday and was located 180 kilometers east of Virac, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.
''Quinta'' is packing winds of 95 kilometers per hour (kph) and gusts of 115 kilometers per hour.
It is moving west at 25 kph, Pagasa said. ''Quinta'' is expected to make landfall over the Catanduanes-Albay-Sorsogon area between Sunday afternoon and evening, Pagasa added.
Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No.2 was raised over Catanduanes, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Albay and Sorsogon, central and southern portions of Quezon, Batangas, Marinduque, Romblon, Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro, including Lubang Island and Northern Samar.
Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 was raised over Metro Manila, the rest of Quezon, Laguna, Rizal, Cavite, Bulacan, Pampanga, Bataan, southern portion of Zambales, northern portion of Samar, northern portion of Eastern Samar, northern portion of Capiz, Aklan, northern portion of Antique and the northeastern portion of Iloilo.
