Rappler chief executive officer Maria Ressa and six other members of its 2016 board were charged by prosecutors for alleged violation of Securities and Regulation Code and the Anti-Dummy Law.
The Pasig Prosecutor's Office filed the case on Tuesday before the Pasig Regional Trial Court (RTC). The case is related to the Securities and Exchange Commission order revoking its certificate of incorporation.
Senior Assistant Prosecutor Randy Esteban said those charged with violation of Section 2-A of Commonwealth Act No. 108 or the Anti Dummy Law were Ressa, managing editor Glenda Gloria and five other board members.
Other than Ressa who is out of the country, Gloria and the other accused each posted bail of P90,000 on Wednesday.
