Robredo’s removal will not affect campaign vs illegal drugs

The Philippine National Police ( PNP) on Monday said the removal of Vice President Leni Robredo as co-chair of Interagency Committee on Anti-illegal Drugs (ICAD) will not affect the government’s campaign against illegal drugs.
Police Brigadier General Bernard Banac, the PNP spokesman, said it respects the decision of President Rodrigo Duterte.
“This will not affect on our on-going campaign against illegal drugs and we will continue on arresting high value targets, he said.
“We assure the public that will be relentless and will not stop with of course following the procedures and respect on human rights,” he added.
Banac said the PNP also thanked Robredo for being part of ICAD even for almost three weeks.
“We thanked the ideas she contributed and we have no regrets,” he said.
“We heard her wishes and desires and these are all being considered by the PNP… this matches our direction,” he said.
Banac said the PNP did not receive any report that Robredo violated something.
“Right now, we did not receive any report with regards to this matter and all decision will be (made) by our higher officials. For us in the PNP, (we) continue our campaign on illegal drugs and on our call to the public to continue trusting the PNP,” said Banac.
Robredo was removed by Duterte last Sunday, some two weeks after offering the position of ICAD co-chairperson to her. Ella Dionisio/DMS
