November 28, 2019

Delegates of Royal Thai Navy (RTN) visited the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and Philippine Navy (PN) headquarters in Manila this week.

Capt. Armando Balilo, PCG spokesman said PCG Commandant Vice Admiral Joel Garcia welcomed the RTN delegation, headed by Rear Admiral Chonlathis Navanugraha, deputy director general of Naval Intelligence Department.

“After a short discussion on maritime security and maritime law enforcement, Vice Admiral Garcia toured Rear Admiral Navanugraha around PCG National Headquarters and showcased its latest facilities and equipment,” he said.

Last Tuesday, the group of Navanugraha also visit the Philippine Navy headquarters in Manila.

Lt. Commander Maria Christina Roxas, Philippine Navy public affairs office acting director, said RTN delegation paid a courtesy call on the Flag Officer In Command of the Philippine Navy, represented by the Commander of Naval Sea Systems Command (NSSC), Rear Adm. Rommel Jason Galang.

The RTN delegation went to the Philippines for the 6th PN-RTN INTELCON which was hosted this year by the Philippine Navy.

“The PN-RTN INTELCON solidifies the enhanced navy-navy relationship between the Philippine Navy and the Royal Thai Navy,” she said.

“This exchange focuses on regional and global strategic updates, with emphasis on maritime non-traditional security threats such as piracy and armed robbery at sea,” said Roxas.

“This signifies the sustainment of the already strong friendship between the Philippines and its ASEAN partner navy which also benefits both armed forces,” she added. Robina Asido/DMS
