The Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Philippines visited the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) headquarters in Quezon City on Monday.
Capt. Jonathan Zata, AFP Public Affairs Chief said Ambassador Igor Khovaev met with AFP the Chief of Staff General Felimon Santos Jr. at the General Headquarters Building in Camp Aguinaldo.
Zata said "the meeting was an introductory courtesy call requested by Ambassador Khovaev to General Santos who assumed the position on January 4."
"The AFP accorded arrival and departure honors to the Russian envoy which is customary in all diplomatic visits," he said.
Khovaev visited Santos nearly a week after the Philippines formally notified the United States on its intent to terminate the Visiting Forces Agreement. Robina Asido/DMS
