The organizers of the 30th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games appealed to media to support the athletes by producing "positive" stories amid recent issues in logistics.
Philippine SEA Games Organizing Committee (Phisgoc) chief operating officer Ramon Suzara assured the public and participating countries that recent problems have been ''resolved''.
"Two days ago we had a meeting and we tackled all the issues, complaints, requests of the commission. We have resolved everything," Suzara explained in a press conference on Wednesday.
"The government has spent so much money for this sea games and we are doing our best. We are ready, we are just having some problems but we have resolved that," he added.
His clarification came after news reports of issues concerning food, hotel lodging, and transportation of athletes from Cambodia, Myanmar, Thailand and Timor Leste.
"I think we have a put a rest on this," he said.
Suzara called out to media outfits to provide positive stories which might help boost morale of athletes and help with the overall outlook of the Philippines as the host country.
He said the issues are part of the “adjustments” done and were also experienced by athletes in previous SEA Games hosted by Singapore and Malaysia.
"We have to help each other. I am appealing to you to have a positive note on what we have done. I appeal to make stories that are very positive to our athletes," he requested.
Suzara told everyone to be patient and be supportive of the country as it hosts the biggest SEA Games in history. Cristina Eloisa Baclig/DMS
