Second Filipino seaman rescued by Japanese Coast Guard from freighter

Another Filipino seaman has been rescued by the Japanese Coast Guard, bringing to two people saved from the Panamanian-flagged freighter which sank off Japan on Sept. 2
The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), through the Philippine Embassy in Tokyo and the Philippine Consulate General in Osaka, said Saturday that in light of the expected arrival of Typhoon 10, the Japanese Coast Guard has temporarily suspended its search and rescue operations.
There are 43 crew members, including 39 Filipinos, two New Zealanders, one Australian, and one Singaporean, are on board Gulf Livestock 1.
The DFA did not mention who was the second rescued Filipino but earlier reports said the first one saved was identified as Edwardo Sareno.
The DFA added that the two Filipino survivors have been in contact with their respective families.
The Philippine Overseas Labor Office in Osaka said the Japanese Coast is using fouf rescue patrol boats, two airplanes, and divers from the Haneda Airbase Special Rescue Team. DMS
