According to the Manila Information Office, the coronavirus scare on social media resulted to suspension of classes in Philippine Academy of Sakya, Saint Stephen's High School, Saint Jude Catholic School, Chiang Kai Shek College - Padre Algue and Narra branches, and Uno High School.
"This is in connection with the recent outbreak of the Corona Virus that is being feared might have spread here in our country," the Philippine Academy of Sakya explained.
"As a precautionary measure in relation to the outbreak of Corona Virus in China and neighboring Asian nations, there will be no classes in all levels at both Padre Algue and Narra campuses from January 27, 2020 (Monday) to February 8, 2020 (Saturday)," Chiang Kai Shek College posted in its Facebook account.
The Manila Public Information Office said a report was sent to Mayor Isko Moreno by the Manila Health Department regarding a Chinese POGO (Philippine Offshore Gaming Operations) worker who was hospitalized in Binondo on Saturday due to fever and cough.
However, the Manila Health Department clarified that the Chinese national is not yet proven to be positive of the novel coronavirus. It added that there are no confirmed case of the virus yet.
