Severe Tropical Storm ''Julian''remained stationary over the Philippine Sea while gathering strength, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said Saturday.
As of 10 am, ''Julian'' was located 850 kilometers east of Tuguegarao, or 800 kilometers east of Casiguran, Aurora, Pagasa said in its 11 am bulletin.
''Julian'' had maximum winds of 100 kilometers per hour and gusts of up to 125 kph.
It forecast to become a typhoon this afternoon or evening and may reach peak intensity by Monday before leaving the Philippine Area of Responsibility, said Pagasa.
But Pagasa said ''Julian'' is ''less likely to directly cause high impact weather over the country.'' DMS
