Share index up, peso declines

The main share index rose but the peso declined against the US dollar on Tuesday.
The peso closed at P51.765 against the US dollar from Monday's P51.64. Volume at the foreign exchange portal of the Bankers Association of the Philippines reached $810.45 million from the previous session's $581 million.
The Philippine Stock Exchange ended at 7,826.46 points, up 38.48 points. But in the broader market, there were 107 decliners, 85 gainers while 42 shares were unchanged.
Volume reached 1.45 billion shares worth P7.14 billion from Monday's 1.18 billion shares valued at P7.87 billion.
Most active shares were led by Ayala Land, up 1.07 percent to P47.30; Ayala Corp., down 0.77 percent to P901 and Metro Pacific, down 2.2 percent to P4.45. DMS
