Soldier killed in Zamboanga del Norte

A soldier was killed in an encounter with members of a lawless armed group in Zamboanga del Norte last Saturday.
Capt. Clint Antipala, acting public affairs chief of the Army’s 1st Infantry Division, said joint military and police forces encountered an undetermined number of lawless armed group members in the vicinity of Sibuco.
Antipala said authorities were conducting joint law enforcement operation to arrest a certain Basiran Ahil Mudja who has two warrants of arrest for murder and attempted murder cases.
He said the 15-minute fire fight resulted in the killing of one soldier whose identity was withheld.
Antipala said the soldier was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician in Camp Navarro Hospital, Zamboanga City.
