South Korean tourist loses P200,000 worth of items in Palawan

A South Korean tourist lost P200,000 worth of items and cash after a theft broke into the apartment she is staying at Puerto Princesa City, Palawan on Wednesday, a regional police spokesperson said.

Police Lt. Colonel Socrates Faltado of Mimaropa said the incident happened  around 3:15 am at the first floor of Lamella’s Apartment at Dagumboy Village, Barangay Bancao-Bancao in Puerto Princesa.

He identified the victim as Sol An, 27, and the suspect as Emilio Abellana, 27.

“According to the investigators the suspect is known for his modus in robbing at apartments,” Faltado told the Daily Manila Shimbun Friday.

Initial investigation disclosed that the representative of the victim reported to the police station and narrated the incident.

According to the representative, while they were sleeping an unidentified suspect entered the victim’s room by destroying the doorknob of the main door.

“She woke up to check if her brother had arrived to fetch her. When she went out to the door to check, she saw an unidentified malefactor, wearing white shirt with black round collar, black shorts and slippers, who was holding a white charger on his right hand and a cellphone scratch card on his left hand, walking down the stairs,” said Faltado.

“When she called him, the malefactor just looked at her and then proceeded hurriedly down the stairs and outside of the apartment,” he added.

The victim noticed that they were robbed the next day.

Stolen were her phone charger, a watch amounting to P15, 600; a watch amounting to P130, 000 and different denominations of US dollar bills and Philippine peso currencies allegedly worth around P65, 000.

The representative identified the suspect and based on the CCTV footage installed in the area, the suspect carried the charger he stole from the victim.
