SPD chief becomes NCRPO deputy director for operation

The director of the Southern Police District (SPD) has become the new deputy regional director for operation of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO).

In a statement Friday, Philippine National Police (PNP) chief, Police General Archie Francisco Gamboa announced the designation of Police Brigadier General Nolasco Bathan, as NCRPO’s deputy regional director for operation.

Bathan replaced Police Brigadier General Albert Ignatius Ferro, now Central Visayas regional director.

Police Colonel Emmanuel Peralta is now acting district director of Southern Police District.

In a press briefing, acting NCRPO regional director, Police Major Debold Sinas, said Bathan was placed at the DRDO since the regional chief of the directorial staff is not yet a general.

“General Bathan was relieved not because of anything. It so happens he is included in the limited movement of the senior officers,” Sinas explained.

“I was informed directly by chief PNP to relieve Bathan as replacement of General Ferro,” he said.

He added the former SPD chief has been a director for a long time and it’s time for junior officers to be promoted.

Asked about the administrative case of Bathan for alleged maltreatment to a reporter, the NCRPO chief said the case is closed.

“He already talked to Jun Veneracion ( of GMA 7) and I think he accepted his sorry. We are very happy and thankful that he accepted his apology,” Sinas said.

“We admonished General Bathan on that incident because we want that closed so that the issue will be over,” he said.

Sinas clarified the case was closed not because Bathan will be promoted.

“(He was promoted) because of position,” he said.

Gamboa also oordered the designation of Police Colonel Lawrence Cajipe as the acting provincial director of Bulacan Provincial Police Office after the relief of its former head, Police Colonel Emma Libunao.
