SSS president and CEO Dooc steps down
March 6, 2019
Emmanuel Dooc, Social Security System (SSS) president and chief executive officer, stepped down on Wednesday.
In a statement, Dooc said he submitted his letter of resignation to President Rodrigo Duterte on Tuesday due to the recently-signed Republic Act 11199 or the Social Security Act of 2018.
Dooc said he "voluntarily and irrevocably stepped down to provide him the opportunity to name a new President and CEO of SSS."
Dooc, the 17th head of the pension fund, took office in 2016, when his nomination was approved by Duterte.
He served as Insurance Commissioner from 2011 to 2016 prior to his appointment as SSS president.
Duterte approved the Social Security Act of 2018 last month which gives unemployment assistance for members of the pension fund who lost their jobs.
Dooc also expressed his gratitude to Duterte for his support and for the opportunity to head the pension fund during the president's administration. Cristina Eloisa Baclig/DMS
