Stock index advances, peso gains slightly vs US dollar

Philippine stocks ended slightly higher while the peso finished a bit higher against the US dollar on Monday.
The peso closed at P52.59, four centavos higher from Friday's close. Volume at the foreign exchange portal of the Bankers Association of the Philippines reached $1.083 billion from $1.18 billion.
The Philippine Stock Exhange index closed at 7,660.14 points, up 76.32. In the broader market, there were 100 gainers, 84 decliners while 43 shares were unchanged.
Volume reached 1.01 billion shares worth P4.88 billion from Friday's 935.8 million shares valued at P8.21 billion.
Most active shares were led by SM Investment Corp, down 0.39 percent to P884.50; Jollibee, down 1.01 percent to P274.20 and SM Prime, up 0.77 percent to P39.40. DMS
