Stock index declines, peso climbs to P52.35:$1

The local stock index lost ground while the peso gained against the US dollar on Wednesday.
The Philippine Stock Exchange ( PSE) index settled at 7,265.45, down 37.49 points. In the broader market, there were 127 decliners, 64 gainers and 48 shares unchanged.
The peso ended at P52.35 from P52.39 on Tuesday. Volume at the foreign exchange portal of the Bankers Association of the Philippines amounted to $727.15 million from $763.81 million on Tuesday.
Volume at the PSE logged 902.68 million shares worth P7.06 billion from Tuesday's 949.3 million valued at P6.9 billion.
Most active shares were led by ISM Communications, down 18.6 percent to P6.30; Metrobank, up 0.84 percent to P71.95; PXP Energy Corp. down 14.87 percent to P14.66. DMS
