Stock index ends lower, peso at P52.93:$1

The Philippine Stock Exchange index finished lower on Wednesday, falling 146.18 points to 7,033.93 a day ahead of the government's announcement of third quarter growth figures.
But the peso surged to P52.93 against the US dollar from P53.025 on the previous day. Volume at the foreign exchange portal of the Bankers Association of the Philippines reached $1.447 billion from $ 983.78 million on Tuesday.
In the broader market, there were 165 decliners, 38 gainers and 41 shares unchanged.
Volume reached 2.67 billion shares worth P46.50 billion from Tuesday's 1.15 billion shares valued at P6.77 billion.
Most active shares were ISM Communications, up 35.04 percent to P 5.55; Chelsea Logistics, up 28.59 percent to P8.50, Ayala Land, unchanged at P38, Vulcan Industries, 47.39 percent down to P1.31 DMS
