Stock index ends lower

Philippine stocks closed lower on Monday, as the main index fell by nearly one percent.
The Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) index finished at 8,069.48 points, down 74.68 points. But, in the broader market, there were 124 gainers,m 83 decliners and 47 shares unchanged.
Volume reached 3.27 billion shares worth P7.3 billion from Friday's 2.42 billion shares valued at P8.97 billion.
Most active shares were led by Premiere Horizon Alliance, down, 1.79 percent to P1.33; SM Investment Corp., down 1.77 percent to P997 and BDO, down 1.07 percent to P138.50.
The peso lost 18 centavos to close at P52.41 against the US dollar. Volume at the foreign exchange portal of the Bankers Association of the Philippines amounted to $842.9 million from Friday's $881.3 million. DMS
