Stock index ends slightly lower

Philippine stocks ended lower on Thursday after the main index gained for four days.
The Philippine Stock Exchange index finished at 7,804.03 points, up 0.14 percent. In the broader market, there were 110 decliners, 87 gainers while 53 shares remained unchanged.
Volume reached 3.45 billion shares valued at P7.2 billion from the previous day's 850.19 million shares worth P10.14 billion.
Most active shares were led by Ayala Corp., down 1.1 percent to P895; Global Ferronickel Holdings, up 3.27 percent to P1.58 and Ayala Land, up 1.04 percent to P48.50.
The peso closed at P52.50 against the US dollar from Wednesday's P52.53. Volume at the foreign exchange portal of the Bankers Association of the Philippines reached $740 million from $777.95 million on the previous day. DMS
