Stock index lower, peso gains vs US dollar

Philippine stocks ended lower but the peso gained against the US dollar on Thursday.
The peso closed at P51.835 from P51.90 on Wednesday. Volume at the foreign exchange portal of the Bankers Association of the Philippines reached $690.56 million from the previous day's $990 million.
The Philippine Stock Exchange index finished at 7,990.05 points, down 18.48 points. In the broader market, there were 115 decliners, 59 gainers while 49 shares were unchanged.
Volume reached 825.43 million worth P3,1 billion from Wednesday's 2.14 billion shares valued at P9.83 billion.
Most traded shares were led by Ayala Land, up 3.09 percent to P46.75; Metrobank, down 0.25 percent to P78.30 and ICTSI, down 0.98 percent to P132. DMS
