Stock index nearly unchanged, peso gains

Stocks ended an up-and-down session nearly unchanged while the peso closed higher against the US dollar on Friday.
The Philippine Stock Exchange index settled 1.45 points higher to 7,524.37. In the broader market, there were 100 gainers, 79 decliners and 42 shares unchanged.
The peso finished at P52.62 from Thursday's P52.715. Volume at the foreign exchange portal of the Bankers Association of the Philippines reached $697.68 million from $765.15 million on the previous day.
Volume at the PSE amounted to 1.27 billion shares worth P6.85 billion from Thursday's 2.70 billion shares valued at P6.09 billion.
Most traded shares were led by SM Prime, down 0.57 percent to P34.50; ICTSI, up 2.3 percent to P98 and Jollibee Foods Corp., up 1.15 percent to P298. DMS
