Philippine stocks closed lower while the peso declined 18 centavos against the US dollar to end at P52.83 on Tuesday.
The Philippine Stock Exchange index finished at 7,840.41 points, down 29.61 points. In the broader market, there were 104 decliners, 89 gainers and 44 shares unchanged.
Volume reached 1.39 billion shares worth P5.97 billion from Monday's 1.7 billion shares valued at P5.32 billion.
Most traded shares were led by ICTSI, up 1.51 percent to P120.80; Ayala Land, down 0.46 percent to P43.25 and SM Prime, down 0.38 percent to P39.
Volume at the foreign exchange portal of the Bankers Association of the Philippines reached $1.141 billion from Monday's $846.4 million. DMS
