Stock index, peso end lower

Philippine stocks ended lower on Friday as the main index fell below the key 8,000-point mark.
The peso closed at P52.02 against the US dollar from P51.865. Volume at the foreign exchange portal of the Bankers Association of the Philippines reached $870.39 million from the previous day's $919.84 million.
The Philippine Stock Exchange index finished at 7,990.20, down 61.56 points. In the broader market, there were 112 decliners, 74 gainers while 54 shares were unchanged.
Volume reached 920,04 million shares worth P7.68 billion from Thursday's 993.50 million shares valued at P9.1 billion.
Most active shares were led by Ayala Land, down one peso to P50.50; Ayala Corp., down P10 to P900 and SM Prime, down five centavos to P39. DMS
