Stock index, peso gain

The Philippine Stock Exchange index closed higher in tandem with the peso on Monday.

The index closed at 7,399.87 points, up 57.69. in the broader market, there were 106 gainers, 74 decliners and 50 shares unchanged.

The peso finished at P52.35 against the US dollar from P52.45 on Friday. Volume at the Philippine Dealing System fetched $329.9 million from $312.7 million.

Volume at the PSE reached 1.7 billion shares worth P6.8 billion from Friday's 88.05 million shares valued at P5.4 billion.

Most traded shares were International Container Terminal Services Inc., up 3.76 percent to P98; Metrobank, up 2.98 percent to P74.25 and Ayala Land, changed at p41.50. DMS
