Stock index still above 8,000 points, peso gains

The Philippine Stock Exchange index closed lower but still ended above the 8,000-point mark on Tuesday.
The index closed at 8,050.82, down 3.1 points. In the broader market, there were 124 decliners, 86 gainers and 33 shares unchanged.
Volume reached 1.9 billion shares worth P8.2 billion from Monday's 1.68 billion shares valued at P9.13 billion.
Most active share were led by Ayala Land, down 2.49 percent to P43.10; Premiere Horizon Alliance, up 16.18 percent to P1.58 and SM Prime, down 0.63 percent to P39.70.
The peso gained 14 centavos against the US dollar to close at P52.43. Volume at the foreign exchange portal of the Bankers Association of the Philippines reached $939.03 million from Monday's $886.07 million. DMS
