Stock index up, peso gains 16 centavos to P52.39:$1

The local share index and the peso closed higher on Tuesday.
The Philippine Stock Exchange index finished 32.68 points higher to 7,302.94. In the broader market, there were 109 decliners, 84 gainers and 47 shares unchanged.
The peso surged to P52.39 against the US dollar from P52.55. Volume at the Bankers Association of the Philippines reached $763.81 million from $561.81 million on Monday.
Volume at PSE reached 949.3 million shares valued at P6.9 billion from Monday's 1.36 billion worth P8.34 billion.
Most traded shares were PXP Energy Exploration, down 9.08 percent to P17.22; ISM Communications, down 5.61 percent to P7,74; Ayala Land, up 0.50 percent to P40.15; GT Capital, up 4.59 percent to P899.50 and Chelsea Logistics, up 6.93 percent to P8.49. DMS
