Stock index up, peso slightly lower vs US dollar

Philippine stocks rose while the peso ended slightly lower against the US dollar on Monday.
The peso closed at P52.14 against the US dollar from P52.10 on Monday. Volume at the foreign exchange portal of the Bankers Association of the Philippines reached $873.93 million from Friday's $964.52 million.
The Philippine Stock Exchange index finished at 7,915.63, up 42.45 points. In the broader market, there were 107 gainers, 91 decliners while 50 shares were unchanged.
Volume reached 679.4 million shares worth P 5,4 billion from Friday's 2.02 billion shares valued at P5.04 billion,
Most active shares were led by Ayala Land, unchanged at P45; Bloomberry, down 0.31 percent to P12.80; BPI, down 0.31 percent to P80.80. DMS
