Stock up, peso slightly lower

Philippine stocks rose while the peso ended slightly lower against the US dollar on Friday.
The Philippine Stock Exchange index settled at 7,798.28 points, up 47.86 points. In the broader market, there were 103 gainers, 88 decliners while 41 were unchanged.
The peso closed at P52.65, down five centavos from Thursday. Volume at the foreign exchange portal at the Bankers Association of the Philippines reached $976.4 million from $1.202 billion in the previous day.
Volume at the PSE amounted to 1.37 billion shares worth P20.8 billion from Thursday's 1.8 billion shares valued at P5.6 billion.
Most active shares were led by JG Summit, down 1.05 percent to P61.05; San Miguel Corp., up 1.28 percent to P174.20 and San Miguel Food and Beverage, up 2.31 percent to P106.50. DMS
