Stocks decline, peso gains vs US dollar

Stocks declined while the peso closed higher against the US dollar on Tuesday.
The Philippine Stock Exchange index lost 82.37 points to 6,843.83 points. In the broader market, there were 155 decliners, 55 gainers and 36 shares unchanged.
The peso finished at P53.1 against the greenback from Monday's P53.295. Volume at the foreign exchange portal of the Bankers Association of the Philippines rose to $738.7 million from $666.1 million.
At the PSE, volume went up to 2.95 billion shares valued at P8,17 billion from Monday's 883 million worth P6.64 billion.
Most active shares were led by ISM Communications, up 8 percent to P8.10; Aboitiz Power Corp., down 2.5 percent to P31.20 and San Miguel Food and Beverage, down 0.06 percent to P84.95. DMS
