Stocks flat, peso rallies to end just below P53:$1

Stocks closed flat while the peso declined against the US dollar on Monday.
The Philippine Stock Exchange index closed 3.97 points lower to 7,520.48. In the broader market, there were 98 decliners, 93 gainers and 45 shares unchanged.
The peso hit the day's low of P53.08 before rallying to end the session at P52.98,down by 10 centavos from Friday. Volume at the foreign exchange portal of the Bankers Association of the Philippines reached $685.95 million from $677.75 million.
Volume at the PSE amounted to 1.052 billion shares worth P5.9 billion from Friday's 1.27 billion shares valued at P6.85 billion.
Most active shares were led by SM Prime, up 0.87 percent to P34.90, Jollibee, up 0.17 percent to P300 and Ayala Corp., up 1.42 percent to P927. DMS
