Stocks flat, peso surges to P52.85:$1

Philippine stocks closed flat ahead of the July inflation report but the peso continued its recent gains against the US dollar to end at P52.85, from Friday's P53.15 on Monday.
Volume at the foreign exchange market reached $892.9 million from the previous session's $595.15 million.
The Philippine Stock Exchange index ended at 7,817.23, down 2.08 points. In the broader market, there were 117 decliners, 92 gainers and 36 shares unchanged.
Volume reached 2.07 billion valued at P5.6 billion from Friday's 1.72 billion worth P5.72 billion. Foreigners were net sellers at $1.644 million.
Most traded shares were led by Trans-Pacific Broadband, up 11.11 to 70 centavos; Ayala Land, up 3.58 percent to P41.95 and ATN Holdings "A", up 9.92 percent to P1.33. DMS
