Stocks lower, but peso gains vs US dollar

Philippine stocks ended lower but the peso closed higher against the US dollar on Tuesday.
The peso closed at P51.365 from Monday's P51.39. Volume at the foreign exchange portal of the Bankers Association of the Philippines reached $771.92 million from $732 million in the previous day.
The Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) index finished at 8,034.09 points, down 26.49 points. In the broader market, there were 102 losers, 97 gainers while 56 shares were unchanged.
Volume reached 1.2 billion shares worth P6.58 billion from Monday's 3.39 billion shares valued at P9.05 billion.
Most active shares were led by Ayala Land, down P1.25 to P50.55; SM Prime, down 45 centavos to P38, BDO, down 50 centavos to P141 and Ayala Corp., unchanged at P897. DMS
