Stocks, peso finish higher

Philippine stocks and the peso closed higher on Thursday.
The peso gained nine centavos to end at P52.14 against the US dollar. Volume at the foreign exchange portal of the Bankers Association of the Philippines reached $961 million from Wednesday's $1.373 billion.
The Philippine Stock Exchange ended 47.46 points higher to 7,894.45. In the broader market, there were 96 gainers, 92 decliners while 57 shares were unchanged.
Volume reached 743.9 million shares worth P6.5 billion from the previous day's 652.1 million shares valued at 8.1 billion.
Most active shares were led by Ayala Land, up 3.13 percent to P49.50; GT Capital, up 0.12 percent to P852 and SM Prime, up two percent to P40.80. DMS
