Suspected NPAs burn truck of a contractor of New Bicol International Airport: DOTr

Five armed men suspected of being members of the New People's Army (Army) stopped a truck of a construction firm which is one of the contractors of the construction of the New Bicol International Airport Complex in Daraga, Albay before burning it Friday morning.
The Department of Transportation (DOTr) said in a press statement that trhe incident happened in the vicinity of the construction site of the Bicol International Airport about 9:30 am.
''The alleged NPAs waylaid a dump truck of Cuerpo Construction and burned it, forcing the driver to abandon the said vehicle,'' the DOTr said.
The military engaged in a firefight with the suspected NPA members, DOTr said.
Operatives from the Philippine Army proceed to the area for further investigation and possible identification of perpetrators.
''The DOTr views this incident with deep regret, as this is not the first suspected arson incident in the area,'' it said. DMS
