Taiwan police attache lauds cops for rescuing Taiwanese

Taiwan's police attaché lauded the Pasay City police for their quick response in rescuing a Taiwanese last December 18, according to the Southern Police District (SPD).
In a statement Friday, it said Pasay City station chief, Police Colonel Bernard Yang received a text message from an official from Taiwan Economic and Cultural Office expressing his deepest gratitude for the immediate assistance and steadfast response in rescuing Liu Chin-Wei.
“Mr. (Jerry) Wang also thanked Yang for his kind assistance and cooperation,” it said.
According to a police report, Liu was illegally detained inside a hotel room in Pasay City last Wednesday afternoon by two Chinese nationals.
According to investigation, Liu borrowed P200,000 from the suspects but lost in a casino.
The two Chinese suspects immediately demanded to be paid and Liu was brought to the place of incident after he failed to pay.
Liu called up his friend using his cell phone, purposely to borrow money to pay his creditors. However, when his friend learned Liu's creditors were detaining him due to his debt, his Taiwanese friend sought assistance from the Taiwan Economic and Cultural Office.
Authorities immediately called the Pasay City station, which resulted to the rescue of Liu Chin-Wei and the apprehension of his creditors.
Police Brigadier General Nolasco Bathan, the SPD head, also congratulated Yang.
Bathan said maintaining harmonious relationship with other countries will always be a police concern.
“We really have to establish good contact in order for us to communicate and coordinate well to other police attachés. The accomplishment of Police Colonel Yang is a manifestation that we, the Philippine National Police personnel of Southern Police District are doing our job accordingly in combating crimes and upholding our mandate fairly. True enough that we mirror ourselves with our clients’ positive feedback when we do things well,” he said. Ella Dionisio/DMS
