Third telco player putting up a data center in Clark
September 8, 2019
Third telecommunications player Dito Telecommunity Corp. of Udenna Corp. and China Telecom will be spending P20.5 billion over a five-year period to build a data center in Clark in Pampanga.
Dito said in a statement it subleased an eight-hectare property in Clark Global City to house its main data center.
Dito Telecommunity Data Center, a critical component to begin DITO’s commercial operations, will be designed after Google’s campus-style headquarters, to hold operational departments, network operations center, servecall center, and regional cventer. It will also serve as the hub for Dito’s research and development in the telecommunications space.
“We are excited to build an iconic DITO Campus here in Clark,'' Dennis Uy, chairman of Dito and Udenna Land said.
The company said they will hire 800 Filipinos in the first year up to a total of 4,500 locals on the fifth year.
“We look forward to starting the construction in 3 months, as we are more than excited to spur business development in Clark,” said Wilfredo Placino, president of Udenna Land.
DITO Telecommunity last July accepted its Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity (CPCN) from the National Telecommunications Commission to operate as third telco player.
The company committed to improve the country’s telecommunications capability within five years, by increasing basic internet speed to 55 mbps and covering more than 80 percent of the country’s population. DMS
