December 2, 2019

Thousands of people were pre-emptively evacuated in preparation for the possible effect of Typhoon Tisoy.

As of Monday morning, the National Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) has recorded a total of 890 families or 3,008 individuals pre-emptively evacuated in Bicol and Eastern Visayas regions.

As of 6 am, Capt. Armando Balilo, Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) spokesman said a total of 5,327 passengers in Southern Tagalog, Western Visayas, Bicol, and Eastern Visayas were stranded.

"The operations of 1,030 rolling cargoes, 51 motor bancas, and 45 vessels are also temporarily suspended, while 125 vessels and 19 motor bancas are taking shelter due to the weather condition," he said.

"All PCG units ensure the strict implementation of the guidelines on the movement of vessels during heavy weather to ensure the safety of lives and properties at all costs," he added.

According to NDRRMC, 28 domestic flights from Manila going to Legaspi, Tacloban, Virac and vice-versa were also cancelled due to the bad weather.

A total of 373 cities and municipalities in Calabarzon, Mimaropa, NCR, Bicol and Eastern Visayas declared suspension of classes following the weather signal raised by Pagasa.

Work on all government and some of private offices in the provinces of Eastern Samar, Laoang, Northern Samar and Samar were also suspended.
