Three alleged NPA members killed in encounter vs troops in Isabela

Three alleged members of New People's Arny (NPA) were killed in an encounter with government troops in Isabela on Sunday.
Maj. Noriel Tayaban, spokesman of the 5th Infantry Division, said the clash between the governement troops and the members of Central Front at Regional Sentro De - Grabidad (RSDG) ng Komiteng Rehiyong-Cagayan Valley (KR-CV) occured in the vicinity of Brgy Rang-ayan, Ilagan City, Isabela.
Tabayan said the troops were responding to reported presence of rebels who were conducting extortion and violent activities.
After the clash, troops also recovered one M16 assault rifle, three Caliber 45 and ammunition.
Prior to the encounter, troops approaching the area were able to rescue three rebels, including a minor, who wished to return to the folds of the law.
Tayaban said based on the statement of rescued rebels two of the slain bandits are high-ranking NPA leaders.
They are the squad leader and team leader or medical officer identified as alias Bobby and alias Princes (both male).
Tayaban did not reveal the identity of the young rebel but he said he is a 16-year-old member of the Dumagat tribe.
He added that the two other rescued alleged rebels were holding a high ranking positionsn.
