Three civilians, including a militiaman, were wounded after Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) attacked a community in Maguindanao last Sunday.

Maj. Arvin Encinas, spokesman of the 6th Infantry Division, said the bandits attacked a civilian community and a Civilian Armed Forces Geographical Unit (Cafgu) detachment in Brgy Kauran, Ampatuan, Maguindanao at about 7:50 pm.

"The BIFF terrorists deliberately fired at the civilian community and CAFGU detachment that resulted to the wounding of two civilians and one CAA member," he said.

Encinas said wounded were CAFGU Active Auxiliary (CAA) Michael Enito, a certain Ronelo Dordas and Carlybeth Pradas.

Following the incident, Lieutenant Colonel Alvin Iyog, commanding officer of 2nd Mechanized Infantry Battalion assures that "security measures will be strengthened to ensure the safety and security of the community."

Col. Efren Baluyot, commander of 1st Mechanized Infantry (Maaasahan) Brigade also assures that the military will hunt down the bandits.

“As this radical extremist group continues to sow terror and harm innocent civilians, the 1st Mechanized Infantry Brigade will pursue to safeguard the civilians and run after the responsible bandits,” he said.

Encinas said Major General Cirilito Sobejana, commander of the 6th Infantry Division, also directed its field units to intensify operations against the bandits.
