February 10, 2020
The Philippine National Police- Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) on Monday said three passengers on board the same domestic flight taken by the Chinese couple infected by 2019 novel coronavirus are now under quarantine.
“Of the persons contacted by CIDG, a total of three persons were brought in for examination by Department of Health (DOH) for possible examination if they are infected with the coronavirus. And they are being, at the present, under quarantine,” said CIDG Director Major General Joel Napoleon Coronel in an interview with reporters.
Coronel said they have accounted for a total of 102 out of the 193 passengers they need to contact.
“And we are submitting the results of our efforts to DOH and to the DILG (Department of Interior and Local Government),” he said.
Last week, CIDG said only one of the three passengers who showed signs and symptoms of the respiratory infection was quarantine.
Coronel reiterated the challenge they had is was some passenger’s contacts number are non-existent or they are not answering their phone.
The DOH tapped the help of PNP in tracing all passengers onboard the same domestic flight with the two Chinese tourists where one was the first fatality outside China. Ella Dionisio/DMS
