Three, including child, die in fire on a ferry: PCG

Three people, including a child, died in a fire on a ferry off the waters of Dapitan City early Wednesday.
Capt. Armando Balilo, Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) spokesman, said based on initial report MV Lite Ferry 16 was approximately 1.5 nautical miles from Pulauan Port, Dapitan City when fire broke out in the engine room around 12:48 am.
He said the vessel departed the port of Samboan, Santander, Cebu around 6pm last Tuesday.
Balilo said the fatalities were identified as Chloe Labisig, a one year and seven months old baby and Danilo Gomez Sr., 60, Ronaldo Heneral, 65.
Balilo could not say if there are missing passengers but he added a total of 245 people were rescued.
He said based on the ferry's manifest, are a total of 136 passengers and 36 crew members. Robina Asido/DMS
