Three soldiers hurt as anti-personnel mine explodes in Maguindanao

Three soldiers were wounded when an anti-personnel mine exploded in Maguindanao Thursday morning.
Lt. Col. Alaric de los Santos, Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) WesMinCom public affairs officer said the troops of the 57th Infantry Battalion were conducting combat clearing operation when an anti-personnel mine exploded in Barangay Salman, Ampatuan.
Delos Santos said the explosion injured three soldiers who were evacuated.
Maj. Gen. Juvymax Uy, JTF Central Commander, said following the explosion the military deployed more troops to secure the area.
“We deployed additional troops to cordon the area and establish the circumstances,” Uy said.
"Medics immediately responded to the area and applied first aid to the wounded personnel after which they were evacuated to Camp Siongco Station Hospital for proper medication," he added.
Lt. Gen. Corleto Vinluan, Jr., WestMinCom commander said "inflicting harm to our troops is the desperate device of the weakened terrorist groups to attract attention and harbor support." Robina Asido/DMS
