January 31, 2019

Tokyo--The organizing committee for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics unveiled Olympic ticket prices Wednesday, including the maximum price of 130,000 yen for the men's 100-meter sprint final.

The committee also said it will accept applications for ticket lotteries on a dedicated website from April this year at the earliest.

Tickets for the session in which the men's 100-meter sprint final will take place carry five prices. The maximum price of 130,000 yen is highest among all track and field ticket prices.

The committee set prices by seat type for many events. The maximum price stands at 108,000 yen for the swimming finals, 72,000 yen for the gymnastics finals, 67,500 yen for the baseball final and the men's soccer final and 54,000 yen for the tennis finals.

The lowest price among all events is 2,500 yen for rugby, weightlifting and some other sports. Tickets for surfing carry a single price of 3,000 yen.

The committee said it has not set ticket prices for boxing. Olympic preparations for the sport is being suspended due to governance problems at amateur boxing's international governing body that the International Olympic Committee has pointed to.

Tickets for the opening ceremony carry the five prices of 300,000 yen, 242,000 yen, 107,000 yen, 45,000 yen and 12,000 yen.

The results of ticket lotteries will be announced in mid-June this year at the earliest. Purchased tickets will be sent as early as May 2020.

Tickets will be available also at stores to be set up in Tokyo from spring 2020.
