Government troops arrested four alleged lawless elements and discovered a factory of homemade bombs along with a drug den in Maguindanao last Saturday, a military official said Friday.
Major Arvin Encinas, spokesman of the 6th Infantry Division, said military and police forces were serving a warrant of arrest against Teddy Biang when they apprehended the suspect and three others at Brgy Bulod, Sultan sa Barongis at 8:30 am.
Encinas said Biang was apprehended based on the warrant of arrest for possession of illegal drugs.
He said the three were also arrested not only for possession of prohibited drugs but and high-powered firearms.
"The troops also recovered cash amounting to P385,000 considered as drug money, assorted ammunition, drug paraphernalia, and other deadly weapons," said Encinas.
Encinas said as troops pursued the retreating cohorts of Biang, they discovered an improvised explosive device factory and a makeshift drug den surrounded by a marijuana plantation.
Encinas said authorities recovered dried marijuana, seeds, and scrap metals being used for manufacturing of homemade bombs.
He said the "barangay officials with the assistance of the government forces agreed to uproot the marijuana and decided to burn the drug den to prevent further drug activities in the area." Robina Asido/DMS
